UPDATE: Multiple sources are reporting a U.S. Army major general is dead after being shot by an Afghan soldier today at a military training facility in Kabul.  More than a dozen other American troops were wounded in the same attack.  The Pentagon is not releasing the general's name.  If confirmed, he would be the highest ranking U.S. service member to be killed in the war in Afghanistan.  The Afghan government describes the shooter as a terrorist in an army uniform, who was shot and killed by Afghan troops.  

(NEWSER) – A man dressed in an Afghan army uniform opened fire today on foreign troops at a military base, an Afghan military spokesman said. One American was killed in the attack, and 15 more were injured, among them a German brigadier general and "about a dozen" Americans, authorities said. NATO said it was investigating an "incident" involving both Afghan and international troops at Camp Qargha, a base west of the capital, Kabul, which trains officers for the country's army. A spokesman for Afghanistan's Defense Ministry, blamed the attack on "a terrorist using (the) uniform of (the) Afghan Army."
