Western New England University reports a coed awoke yesterday morning to find a man in her Plymouth Hall dorm. She was stunned but not sexually assaulted. Now the Springfield Police Department has been alerted to determine if there has been any other incidents. The suspect is described as a black man with a tight afro. He wore a hoodie and had a white backpack.
The Runway, which was closed down in Westfield four months ago in a rent dispute will see a new owner. Officials say Peter Pappas has signed a deal for the property and will reopen it as "P-Aps". It will open in a couple of months.
This was probably not a good idea. A man and a woman were arrested and charged with making a drug deal. That was bad enough. They did it in the parking lot of the Worcester Police Department. Police say they were both at the police station to be interviewed for an unrelated case. Afterwards the ill fated deal went down. They have been released on their own recognizance and will be in court December 20th.
A 65 year old Belchertown man has been sentenced to 4 years in a federal prison for bilking a million dollars from 130 victims over the last several years. John Sacco will also have to make nearly 90 thousand dollars worth of restitution. He had pleaded guilty to the charges.
One of the three suspects in a triple murder case out of Berkshire County will be tried in Springfield. Officials say that Adam Hall will see his trial begin on January 6th. A hearing in the case is set for November 21st. Only one of the trials will be in Springfield so far. @
A 43 year old Springfield man is under arrest after police say he touched a woman sexually and then claimed to be a Springfield Cop. Police say Mitchell Johnson allegedly pulled over a gray car on Main Street and approached the woman. She said she was cold and he allegedly told her he was a police officer and gave her a ride. Now Johnson is charged with a variety of counts including a gun charge.@
We are getting bits and pieces from this incident at the WireVillage School in Spencer apparently involving two seven year olds on the playground. One seven year old it turns out has had surgery. And now comes word that the Department of Youth Services is also investigating. No one has said anything more than that.
The former Barre Tax Collector has pleaded not guilty to charges that she stole more than 300 thousand dollars over a six year period that ended in 2011. 61 year Marcia Langelier entered the plea in Superior Court in Worcester. 25 hundred dollar bail. She will be back in court December 5th. She declined all requests for interviews.
A 41 year old Worcester man submitted to facts sufficient for a guilty finding in connection with an arson fire on May Street. Peter Duvarney was a tenant in the apartment. He was sentenced to six years in the state prison. 18 people were left homeless. He told the judge he was sorry and he was drunk at the time.
