Springfield Mayor Dom Sarno has tapped a 26 year police officer John Barbieri to be the successor to the retiring Bill Fitchet. Barbieri takes over as the top cop on June 1st. The incoming commissioner says he is "autocratic- yet democratic." He says he wants to hear from the community on issues. On the in-coming casino he calls it an opportunity which will present certain issues but they will be overcome. Next up will be the negotiation of a contract. The Mayor won't say whether it will be for three or five years.
