Hampden County District Attorney Mark Mastroianni says he isn't going anywhere. The White House has nominated Mastroianni as a Federal Court Judge. He would replace Judge Michael Ponsor on the full time bench. Ponsor took Senior Status-- which amounts to parttime. About the only thing that the DA has said is that he continues to fullfill his duties as DA and awaits hearings. No timetable for hearings yet. Historically the Judiciary Committee and the full senate are in no hurry. Once confirmed, the governor would then select an interim DA to fullfill the unexpired term. The next election would be next November.
