Countdown to Championship Sunday Continues

Super Bowl 51 is just days away.

The Falcons and Patriots square off for the Lombardi Trophy Sunday at Houston's NRG Stadium.

Atlanta is making just its second Super Bowl appearance, while New England is in the big game for a record ninth time.

The Falcons lost their only previous Super Bowl to Denver in January 1999.

The Patriots are 4-and-4 all-time, including 4-and-2 under head coach Bill Belichick and quarterback Tom Brady.

It's the third Super Bowl appearance in the last six seasons for the Pats, who used a goal-line interception two years ago to beat the Seahawks, 28-24.

New England is back in the title game despite Brady beginning the season with a four-game suspension for his role in the 2015 "deflategate" scandal.

Brady, in his last press conference told reporters that he is hopeful that his parents will be well enough to be at the game.  His mother in particular has been ill this year.

The Falcons beat the Seahawks and Packers to reach the Super Bowl, while the Patriots topped the Texans and Steelers.

Pop singer Lady Gaga performs the halftime show.
