West Side Wants Back In Weed Debate

West Springfield Mayor William  Reichelt is proposing an ordinance to allow the sale of recreational  marijuana in town.

West Springfield was one of the Massachusetts  municipalities that voted against legalizing weed in 2016, and there's a  town moratorium on recreational facilities until December, but Reichelt  says West Springfield will miss out on a financial opportunity if it  doesn't act.

The proposal has been formally recommended to the full town  council.

Under the plan, there would be buffer zones established around stores and they could be located only in certain parts of the city.
