State Lawmakers Ready To Vote On Plastics Ban

The state Senate is preparing to debate a bill that would ban single use plastic bags in Massachusetts stores.

The measure as written would ban the single use bags and require a ten-cent fee on paper bags.

The ten-cent fee would be divided equally between the store and the town where the bag was sold.

The measure would override any other bag bans passed locally across the state.

It is unclear, even if the Senate approves the measure, if the House would take up the issue.
