Distracted Driving Bill Becomes Law Today

Governor Charlie Baker is expected to sign the bill banning the use of hand held cell phones while driving.

Baker's schedule for today calls for a bill signing ceremony for the measure this afternoon in the State House Library.

The bill was passed by the legislature and sent to Baker's desk last week.

He will be joined by Lieutenant Governor Karyn Polito, Senate President Karen Spilka and safe driving advocates for today's bill signing.

The bill mimics the Connecticut law which has been on the books for years.
