City Clerk Says Swearing Not Directed At Commissioner

Springfield Police Commissioner Cheryl Clapprood was interrupted by profanity during a City Council budget hearing over Zoom on Monday.

City Clerk Tasheena Davis was also heard saying "shut up" just as Clapprood was telling the council that morale in the police department was at an all-time low given the climate following the death of George Floyd.

Davis apologized and claimed she was talking to someone in her house, not to Clapprood, but the police commissioner says she doesn't buy it and is not accepting Davis' apology, according to a report from MassLive.

The Springfield Mayor says that unless there is something else that comes out of the situation that would warrant an independent review he is ready to move on,
