State Rep To Form Covid19 Task Force On Minority Concerns

Springfield state Representative Bud Williams announced a new Black Springfield COVID-19 Coalition this week. The committee includes several former Springfield school principals and the executive director of the Springfield Housing Authority. Williams said it will respond to the needs of black residents during the pandemic, such as making sure testing options are increased. City health commissioner Helen Caulton-Harris talked about how the virus pandemic has disproportionately affected black residents in the city during a meeting with coalition members on Monday.

The creation of the task force comes at a time when Northeastern University has conducted a survey that showed that more blacks are exposed to the virus in this state than any other group.
