Thousands In East Hartford For Funeral Of Slain Officers

The funeral for the two Bristol police officers who were killed while responding to a call is being held today at Rentschler Field in East Hartford.

The public can begin arriving at the UConn football stadium after six a.m. for the eleven a.m. funeral of Lieutenant Dustin DeMonte and Sergeant Alex Hamzy.

The officers died from multiple gunshot wounds after being shot by Nicholas Brutcher outside the suspect's home on Redstone Hill Road.

Thousands of people are expected at the funeral, including police officers from all over the country and in Canada.

The mourners include contingents from various Western Mass Police Departments.
