Representative Jim McGovern held his 13th annual farm tour in Western Massachusetts on Tuesday.
The stops included Mayval Farm Creamery in Westhampton and Flat Rock Farm in Chesterfield.
Congress is considering the once-every-five-year renewal of the Farm Bill, which expires next month.
McGovern is a senior member of the House Agriculture Committee who is a key figure in shaping the bill.
He says it should reflect a 50-state approach to farming, and notes that local farms are much smaller than their counterparts in the Midwest.
