The Greater Springfield chapter of the NAACP has filed an official complaint with the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education over racial bullying allegations in the Southwick-Tolland-Granville school district.
The incidents in the Southwick schools involve racist abuse, including an online "slave auction" that offered Black students for sale.
All but two of the students involved in the incidents have reportedly been allowed back to school.
The NAACP says the district failed to protect Black students and did not investigate the claims properly.
A school committee meeting is scheduled today with the NAACP.
Massachusetts state law requires schools to prevent bullying in advance and take corrective action when it occurs, and also to develop a prevention plan.
