Alleged Gang Member- Mid Level Drug Dealer Arrested

Springfield police have arrested a known gang member on drug charges.

Eric Lumpkin of Springfield was taken into custody, following a search of his Woodside Terrace apartment. Nearly 800 grams of cocaine, 22 hundred grams of marijuana, and a 9-millimeter handgun were seized, along with related drug paraphernalia.

City and State Police, along with members of the SAFE Task Force were investigating the 44-year-old Lumpkin for the past several months, due to his gang connections.

Hampden District Attorney Anthony D. Gulluni stated, “I thank the members of my office’s S.A.F.E. Unit for bringing this investigation forward to a successful conclusion and taking a known and dangerous individual into custody. We will continue to fight the battle against street level violence and addiction by arresting those who use fear and violence to profit from the disease of addiction. We will continue to hold those responsible to account, and we’ll continue to rely on the public’s support for the women and men of law enforcement who are all working towards safer communities for all.”

Lumpkin is being held for lack of 30-thousand dollars' cash bail. He returns to court on April 16th.
