A change of plea hearing is set for today in the case of a former Holyoke Soldiers' Home director.

Bennett Walsh was head of the home and was charged over the deaths of several elderly veteran residents in the early days of the coronavirus pandemic.

Walsh pleaded not guilty to five counts of neglect, but the grand jury indictment was thrown out.

Last year, the state Supreme Judicial Court revived the criminal case.

Meantime, some of the families who have been briefed say they are disheartened by the turn of events.

They say that justice is not being served.

David Clinton, the home's former medical director is also facing charges.
