Rules are being tightened for visitors at some local hospitals after a spike in influenza cases and similar illnesses. Visitor restrictions are in place at Mercy Medical Center, Family Life Center for Maternity and Weldon Rehabilitation Center in Springfield, and Providence Behavioral Health Hospital in Holyoke.
The restrictions, which are in place until further notice, limit visitors 14-years-old or older who do not have flu or cold symptoms to two at a time for patients.
Baystate Hospital also enacted some visitor restrictions last week.
