Russia is demanding a U.N. Security Council emergency session over the pre-dawn U.S. missile attack on a Syrian airbase.
U.S. warships in the Mediterranean fired nearly 60 missiles at the base where the U.S. says Syrian forces launched a chemical attack on civilians earlier this week.
Russia has called the airstrike an act of aggression against a U.N. member state.
President Trump says he ordered airstrikes in Syria to help end the "slaughter and bloodshed" there.
Massachusetts Senator Ed Markey says he wants to hear President Trump's plan to stop the cycle of violence in Syria.
Markey says Trump took action with last night's missile attack on Syria.
However, he says the suffering of the Syrian people cannot end without a concrete plan for a diplomatic end to Syria's civil war.
Markey says the president must lay out his next steps to make sure the consequences of the military action do not lead the nation down a slippery slope.
And, Senator Liz Warren says the President overstepped his constitutional authority when he failed to tell Congress what he was doing.
