Michael Rodriguez, the man who was accused of killing a National Guardsman in Springfield, is scheduled to be sentenced next week after being convicted of the crime by a Hampden Superior Court jury.
Rodriguez was found guilty of second-degree murder in the death of Julian Cartie of New Britain, Connecticut, who was preparing to be deployed overseas.
Prosecutors said Cartie got into an argument with someone after clubbing downtown in 2009, and was hit multiple times by gunfire. Police arrested Rodriguez in 2014.
