Connecticut and Massachusetts residents have an extra day to get taxes in.
People who haven't filed their income tax returns yet have one more day to get them done, and they can thank the calendar and a local holiday for the break.
The usual filing deadline of April 15th fell on Saturday this year.
That would have pushed the deadline to today, but April 17th is the day Washington, DC is observing Emancipation Day this year.
It is also Patriots Day in Massachusetts.
The local holiday usually falls on April 16th, commemorating President Abraham Lincoln signing the Emancipation Proclamation, freeing enslaved people, on April 16th, 1862.
But since the 16th fell on Sunday, Washington, DC is celebrating Emancipation Day today.
