A section of Route 5 in West Springfield has been closed after a distraught veteran, allegedly with PTSD led police on a brief chase
The man gave up and is in police custody. But, police say he left four pipe bombs inside the vehicle.
Police are currently in the process of disarming the devices. But it could be sometime before the road is back open.
Police Chief Ron Campurcianni says that the man simply gave up after the chase began but says it could have been much worse.
While that is going on police are in Brimfield searching the man's home for any devices that were left there.
The Chief says that there have been no charges filed against the veteran yet and that they are concentrating on getting the veteran help.
The Chief does not say there won't be charges though.
