A UMass students who wanted to fly the Tibetan flag at upcoming commencement ceremonies is being denied her request by the school.
Kalsang Nangpa wanted to fly the flag during the Parade of Nations procession, but school officials said this week that they rely on a list of countries recognized by the United States.
Tibet has long sought independence from the People's Republic of China.
Commencement takes place next Friday.
