The brutality trial of former Worcester police officer Michael Motyka is scheduled to get underway today.
Motyka is accused of beating a handcuffed and shackled prisoner in a police station holding cell in 2014.
His attorney claims that prisoner Gerald Jones was actually the aggressor, and the officer acted in self defense.
Motyka left the department and is currently collecting a pension, which he could lose if convicted of a felony committed on the job.
