The state Senate is offering a proposal that would place a hotel tax up to eleven percent on Airbnb rentals.
The Senate proposal would raise around 18-million-dollars from short term private rentals in the first six months of next year.
Airbnb is the largest such site, and the company says close to 600 thousand people used their service to book rooms in Massachusetts last year.
