Massachusetts House Speaker Robert DeLeo is coming back from a trip to Springfield.
DeLeo delivered a speech to the Economic Development Council of Western Massachusetts on Thursday.
The Speaker talked about spreading economic growth from Boston to western Massachusetts, touching on the Baystate Business Link initiative in the House.
DeLeo also repeated his opposition to Governor Charlie Baker's proposed fee on businesses that don't provide adequate employee health insurance.
And, while in Springfield, The Speaker says that the legislature will adhere to the wishes of the public when it comes to recreational pot is concerned.
But DeLeo was not as specific when it came to when. He says lawmakers are up against the wall as they usually are when it comes to dealing with the budget, so it is unclear whether they will take up the issue in this legislative session.
