New Hampshire officials are trying to protect first responders who might have to deal with the dangerous opioid carfentanil. They're urging first responders to wear gloves and masks when they encounter a room that may have the drug inside and, better yet, not to touch anything in the room or don't even go in.
Those directives came yesterday as city leaders in Manchester got together for a round table discussion about carfentanil's potentially deadly impact on first responders.
One fire department member said they're now carrying some of the anti-overdose drug Narcan just for themselves, if needed.
