AG Cuts Hair Policy Of Charter School

Trustees at a Malden charter school  are suspending a controversial policy of punishing students who wear  hair braid extensions.

Trustees of the Mystic Valley Regional Charter  School voted yesterday to eliminate the provision for the rest of the  school year.

Many people became outraged after learning of the rule,  which some considered to be discrimination against black and biracial  students.

Attorney General Maura Healey says the policy was not lawful.
