Plans are being revealed for a new police substation in Springfield.
It's going up on Dwight Street at the Pynchon Plaza park to serve as a public safety connection between the city's downtown and museum areas.
The plaza was opened 40 years ago but has suffered from closings and blight since then.
City officials also announced a series of police kiosks that will go up in anticipation of the MGM Springfield Casino, with booths at Main and Taylor streets, Main and Morris streets, and Riverfront Park.
