Springfield's City Council is in full support of a budget worth nearly 629-million dollars being submitted by Mayor Domenic Sarno.
There were no recommended cuts to the budget during a final review yesterday, after Sarno touted the budget as being balanced without layoffs or cuts to basic services.
The budget takes effect at the beginning of next month.
Also at Monday's meeting, council members failed to pass, for the third time in a year, a contract settlement with Springfield fire district chiefs that would have required chiefs promoted in the future to live in Springfield.
