An anti-racism and anti-hatred demonstration was held in Springfield, several days after a rally to save a Confederate statue in Charlottesville, Virginia turned deadly.
Hundreds of people gathered at the intersection of State and Walnut Streets yesterday at an event organized by Arise for Social Justice.
Some carried signs calling for the firing of Springfield Police Officer
Conrad Lariviere, who commented on Facebook over the weekend that he was happy about people being hit by a car at the rally that resulted in dozens of injuries and one fatality.
Lariviere has since apologized.
