Parents Sue Holyoke Over Lack Of Interpreters

Holyoke Public Schools isn't  providing adequate translation services for Latino parents.

That's what a  discrimination lawsuit filed in federal court in Boston on Monday  claims, adding that the district has failed to translate important  educational documents for the parents who don't speak English for  decades.

The suit was filed on behalf of Padres Latinos de las Escuelas  de Springfield  y Holyoke against the district, its principals, the Massachusetts  Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and others.

Roughly 80  percent of students enrolled in Holyoke schools are Latino.
