Despite the latest homicide, the FBI says crime is down in Springfield.
New federal statistics released this week indicate violent crime decreased by more than four-percent from 2015 to last year, which is a reverse of the national trend.
The report also found that overall crime has dropped by 32-percent in Springfield since 2014.
The Springfield Police Department credits the expansion of the C-3 initiative, which focuses on placing officers in specific neighborhoods.
The DA says that a man in his 20's was shot and killed on Baldwin Street in Springfield.
