Springfield officials and MGM Springfield are announcing another milestone in the progress of the city's new casino.
MGM on Wednesday was said to have 95-percent of its construction design submittals be consistent with Springfield's host community agreement.
A Chicago consulting firm hired to review the design plans said MGM is creating an innovative precedent for urban casino development through its Springfield project.
The company agreed to such enhancements as enhanced exterior lighting around the casino and several designated smoking areas.
Meantime, Mike Mathis over at MGM Springfield says they are considering a plan which will create more table games and fewer slots.
And, Mathis says that although construction is moving right along at a pretty good rate, there is still no date specific for the opening of the complex.
