Easthampton Mayor Karen Cadieux isn't budging on a request to make the municipality a sanctuary city.
Cadieux says she won't issue an executive order on the matter despite a petition with over seven-hundred signatures being presented to the City Council last week.
Council members discussed making Easthampton a safe haven for undocumented immigrants at length last winter, but the conversation didn't make it past a committee.
Cadieux says it would be insulting for her to order her police department to not cooperate with federal immigration agents, because that's already their policy.
