Holyoke officials are trying to calm residents down after a flurry of incidents at Holyoke High School.
A joint statement released Sunday night by Mayor Alex Morse and Police Chief James Nieswanger delivers a clear message to the students, staff and parents that make of the Holyoke Public Schools Family: they are safe.
This comes after an attempted abduction of a Holyoke student and vandalism at Holyoke High School. In addition, police are investigating after someone created a list of names that was perceived as a hit list after a controversial poem was read during a recent student assembly.
Police say a high school student was physically assaulted by a man on the same day as the assembly.
