There's still a local push for the new Amazon facility. An application finished ahead of Thursday night's deadline by the North Central Connecticut Chamber of Commerce places the retail giant's new North American location in Enfield, but also references municipalities along the entire length of the Connecticut River which will be serviced by a new commuter train.
The proposal has the backing of the Springfield City Council, the Economic Development Council of Western Massachusetts, and others.
The proposal is being submitted despite the fact that Connecticut Governor Dannel Malloy left Enfield off a list of sites in the state being considered by his administration in its pitch to Amazon.
