University of Massachusetts health officials are issuing an advisory about a student with a potential dangerous contagious illness.
The executive director of health services at UMass on Wednesday said a student was diagnosed with a sickness caused by a bacteria strain that can sometimes cause meningitis, which can be fatal if not treated.
Anyone who has come into contact with the student in the highest risk of getting sick.
The university says students should avoid sharing food and drink, and cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue.
