Westfield Sees Spike In Cough

There are five confirmed cases of  whooping cough at Westfield High School.

Also known as Pertussis, it's a  highly contagious respiratory infection.

The local health department  is notifying close contacts of the affected students and recommending  they take antibiotics.

Dr Michael Klatte over at Baystate Medical Center says that it is not unheard of for them to see as many as 60 cases throughout the school year.

The Doctor says that it is nothing to ignore but the easiest way to prevent Whooping Cough is for you to get vaccinated against it.
