Massachusetts U.S. Attorney Andrew Lelling is not ruling out the federal prosecution of anyone who participates in the marijuana trade.
Lelling issued a statement on the issue yesterday that could place the state's legal marijuana law in jeopardy.
Lelling says he cannot provide assurances that people in the state level marijuana trade will be immune from prosecution under federal law.
He says Congress has made it a crime to cultivate or possess marijuana, and it's his sworn responsibility to uphold that law.
