Governor Charlie Baker is urging Massachusetts U.S. Attorney Andrew Lelling to focus his drug enforcement efforts on opioids, not marijuana.
Lelling this week indicated that he's required by law to enforce the federal ban on marijuana.
Baker says the state's public health crisis is opioid addiction and street drugs like fentanyl.
Lelling says he plans to assess whether limited federal resources should be used to target marijuana on a case by case basis.
