State Senator Eric Lesser is calling for a Massachusetts-wide change to the legal age to buy tobacco products.
Lesser applauded the decision to raise the age to 21 by Springfield City Council on Monday and specifically praised a group of young activists who pushed for the change.
Lesser said in a statement that he voted to raise the age statewide when it came up in the Senate last year, and he hopes a similar bill will be introduced this year.
