Boston Mayor Marty Walsh says the city is considering a lawsuit against pharmaceutical companies over the opioid crisis.
Walsh says several drug makers saturated the market with opioids, putting consumers at risk of addiction.
Walsh plans to seek information on law firms and other interested parties as they decide whether to take the matter to court.
Springfield Mayor Dom Sarno is also seeking to bring the big drug companies to court for the same reason.
More than two thousand people died from opioid overdoses in Massachusetts in 2016.
