There is a Winter Storm Watch in effect from the National Weather Service for Wednesday.
Snow is expected to develop by mid-day and be heavy at times in the afternoon before the precipitation transitions to sleet and freezing rain in the evening.
Snowfall rates of one inch per hour are possible, totaling three to seven inches in Springfield and the rest of Hampden County, six to ten inches for Hampshire and Franklin counties, and up to a foot of snow is possible for Berkshire County.
Forecasters say up to two-tenths of an inch of ice are also possible, especially near the Massachusetts Turnpike.
