Senator Harriette Chandler of Worcester is remaining as Massachusetts Senate president for the rest of the year.
The announcement by Senate Democrats yesterday ends speculation over whether Stan Rosenberg could make a return as president this year.
The Senate will formally remove the acting term from the 80-year-old Chandler's title during today's session.
Rosenberg stepped down as president in December amid a sexual harassment scandal involving his husband Bryon Hefner.
