Arrests of illegal immigrants in Boston are up significantly in the last fiscal year.
Federal statistics indicate a 50-percent increase in the arrests of illegal immigrants in the 2017 fiscal year that ended last September.
The statistics show the increase is partly because of non-criminal arrests, which more than tripled from the previous fiscal year.
Immigration activists say the numbers are rising because law-abiding people who have been allowed to stay in the U.S. for years are now being removed.
