Smith College officials are sharing information about a student being diagnosed with bacterial meningitis.
The diagnosis was announced over the weekend and the student, who lived off campus, is now hospitalized and receiving appropriate care.
Smith College says it is working closely with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health to notify and treat anyone who may have come in close contact with the student.
It's not clear if the case is related to two other meningitis cases at the University of Massachusetts last year.
It is suggested that students get the meningitis vaccination.
