Governor Wants Changes To Drug Laws

Governor Charlie Baker is urging state  lawmakers to make it easier to prosecute fentanyl traffickers.

Baker  appeared with police chiefs and local law enforcement leaders yesterday  in Haverhill to discuss the issue.

The governor says he understands  lawmakers are working on a major criminal justice bill, but the fentanyl  issue should be addressed with some urgency.

Nearly two thousand  people died from overdoses in the state last year, and over 80 percent  of the victims had fentanyl in their system.
