The city of Springfield says it has gotten a warrant to inspect South Congregational Church for code violations.
The church said that was the action the city would have to take, after Mayor Domenic Sarno threatened a re-inspection and a review of the church's tax-exempt status in response to sanctuary status being granted to a Peruvian woman facing deportation.
A copy of the search warrant from the state Housing Court was shared yesterday on the city's website.
The warrant says the inspection should be carried out on Thursday.
