The inspector general of the U.S. Department of Interior is investigating the agency's handling of a casino issue in Connecticut.
The probe is focused on why the department refused to act on a request to approve changes to tribal gaming compacts with the state.
The approval is needed for the Mohegan and Mashantucket Pequot tribes to open a planned casino in East Windsor.
This follows a report from Politico that MGM Resorts, which is building a casino in Springfield, lobbied against the effort.
