Woman In Springfield Sanctuary Free For Now

Gisella Collazo, the Peruvian woman  who has been living at the South Congregational Church in Springfield  since March, is rejoining her family this afternoon.

She took sanctuary  in the church because she faced imminent deportation by U.S.  Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Collazo has been granted a  one-year stay of removal without deportation so that she can continue to  pursue an adjustment of her immigration status.

The Reverend Tom  Gerstenlauer of South Congregational Church says supporters have stood  with Collazo and her family in an act of faith in the face of  injustice.
