Congressman Joe Kennedy says the separating of illegal immigrant children from their parents is a betrayal of American values.
Kennedy visited a city near the Texas border with Mexico over the weekend to attend a protest over the issue.
The protest was held near El Paso, where the government has been placing children separated from their parents after arriving at the border.
The children are being held in a tent city, and Kennedy says they were not allowed to inspect it during his visit.
